New Year Resolutions Revisited

Ok I just looked back at the resolutions I made last year and well…fail.

Don’t get me wrong 2011 was very eventful. So what I didn’t get around at make my own 3d animated short. I ended up getting a job as an animator which I wasn’t expecting as well as many other things. I don’t know what 2012 will bring. It’s a bright New Year that should be pretty good well, until the Zombie apocalypse happens. But in good nature here 2012 resolution and this time I will do at least one of them

1. Start and finish at least one sketch book
Ok all my life I had different sketch books around and I know this is bad and I am ashamed about it but I never finish one of them. Something always happens where it gets misplace for a while or I lose interest. So this year I am taking my current sketch book which has 60 something pages left and finishing as well start a new one and fill it up by yearend.

2. Animation challenges
Ok so last year I said an animated short well that did not happen but to be fair I started a new job last year so, time was an issue. Challenges would be something shorter and more focus. This would help me more than doing a short where I would be bouncing all around trying to do everything.

3. Yes, exercise
Yes this is the stander new year resolution people have every year because of over eating during the holidays. I am not doing it to lose weight even though it wouldn’t hurt, I am doing this because I more sedentary now with my job so a little exercise to compensate would be good.

4. Try the pet tortoise thing again
Ok well… Sam unfortunately died a month after I got him. He fell backwards into his water bowl when I was out. Come to find out later it’s pretty conman for baby tortoises to fall on their backs. So now I want to try again since the holidays are over. This time I’ll look into getting a little bit older tortoise.

5. Survive 2012  
If I fail at everything on this list at least I have one thing I can say I did but, really I would be so screwed if there was some kind apocalypse whether it zombie or any other kind.

Cabinet is done

Ok I’ve been in tortoise mode for a while now. The cabinet is completed and I have to say that I am surprised how good it actually came out. The actual building it didn’t take that long either but I did have to wait a few weeks before I could get it to my apartment. there’s been a drought here but, when we wanted to move the cabinet that’s when it decides to rain. I just end up waiting for the following weekend but, the cabinet did eventually make it to my apartment.  I was able to set it up. I added bedding of compressed coconut mix with some organic topsoil and I also added some plants to give it a tropical feel.

Last Saturday was the day, I finally got my new pet tortoise.  I am pretty excited to have this little guy/girl. It took me a while to come up with a name.  I definitely wanted something gender neutral because it will be a few years before I can find out. So, after great debate and a few days referring to him as Tortoise Who I finally decided on Sam.

It’s just been a few days but, Sam is doing good.  I have been feeding him red lettuces, Hibiscus leaves, carrots, and some strawberries. Right now I am starting to tone down on how often I mist him it’s getting little too humid.

Random Blog Update

Apartment update
Right now I am settled in with my apartment. It is nice to finally have my own place. Its kind of funny to think how big the apartment was before I moved in and now seeing it with all my junk in it is something.

It’s Raining Nieces and Nephews

Well there are more babies coming, both my sister and my sister in-law are having babies early next year. Last week found out that my brother will  be having another girl. However we don’t know about my sister’s one yet but, I am thinking she might actual have a puppy knowing her. But still boy, girl or man pupp the beginning of the year will be pretty busy.

Looking for a Pet
For a  while now I been wanting a pet. Now that I have my own place and a job (i.e. money)  I been getting more serious about getting one. I am looking at a cherry head tortoise. I been doing a lot of research on them and the other breeds  of tortoises  and feel that a cherry head would be a nice fit for me. I always like turtles growing up but, what kid for from the late 80’s didn’t like turtles . My first pet was a red ear slider and actually my last pet was also a red ear slider too.

I have to say although I really like turtles they are a hard pet to take care of. Just  maintaining a large aquarium is a pain. That is one of the reasons I started looking at tortoises. Once the weather cools off a little (like below 100° degrees). I’ll start building the housing. Online I been finding people that made their own “tortoise table”. I really like the ideal and want to try building one but, instead have it as table I would make more of a cabinet so I can store the tortoise supplies in there in attempt to kept everything nice and clean.

Its been a while

WOW!! I am horrible at updating this blog. For some reason it doesn’t really surprise me but still I need to update more often.

So within that large chasm of time a few things happen one I got a job Yay!! and yes that old new got it back in march but still yay!! It is graphic designer/animator. The second thing is I have an apartment. It is a one bed room place up in Conroe. The place itself is pretty nice nothing over the top just a nice apartment. It is definitely something good for me to starting off in. I already started moving in last week and I have everything mostly setup now …well beside an evil blob of clothes, papers and boxes that’s growing in my closet. Right now the biggest deal is that I am closer to work so no more hour long drives back and forth so that is pretty nice.

Late New Year Posting

A new year already started… OK I am about a week late but close enough. Writing always been something I try to avoid and if you read this blog you probably see that, however I still want some posting on here beside my comics.

Life and death of my stop motion animation

Few weeks before Christmas I decided to try stop motion animation again. It was probably The Community Christmas special that inspired me to give it another shot. I manage to get one test done. It’s not overly complicate or long it just a little Christmas greeting.

The plan was expanding this animation a little longer. However, when I was working on the green screen affect the board holding the screen fell and clay me got squash. It was not that bad but with the holiday and all I didn’t have time to remake him. So RIP little clay me. Never know he might come back as a zombie one day.

New Year Resolutions

Ok, I am pretty bad with resolutions. I am bad in the since that I don’t really make them in the first place. But here we go.

1. Start drawing more. I really haven’t drawn that much in the pass couple years. The Iggy comics are really just quick doodles I do just for fun. This year I would like to get back to actual drawing and possibly improve on it.

2. Make a 3D short. I have been learning the whole 3d animation thing for years now. However I mostly just try learning the programs then actual animated shorts. So I want to change that by focusing on making shorts. I don’t know what the first short will be about.

3. Go to the moon. OK…not really but I would like to step outside of myself. I need to start doing more and get out more. Essentially work on my social life.

Bonus Resolution. Go camping. It just something I think would be fun to do this year.

Iggy

Right now I am working on more Iggy comics and starting to toying around with something that is call a storyline. I got no ideal how it will go but it all for fun anyhow.
